Equine assisted psychotherapy (EAP) is a solution-focused, brief therapy. In other words, EAP focuses on the resources and strengths that are found within the person/couple/family/work group. It uses in-the-moment experiences to learn to handle current issues and manage future problems.
Many clients, especially adolescents, report that in EAP sessions the “spotlight” is off of them and onto the process of improving their life. They quickly become less concerned about the therapist and concentrate on experimenting with new outcomes for life situations. Solutions that clients discover for themselves are the most lasting.EAP has been extremely effective with many issues. Healing Strides welcomes individuals, couples, and families wishing to address:
- Increasing confidence and reducing anxiety and fears
- Gaining energy, hope, trust, and patience
- Relationship and communication skills
- Eating disorders or other addictive behavior
- Grief, loss and divorce
- PTSD, trauma, and abuse
In addition to individual/couple/family sessions, Healing Strides offers small group sessions, ½ day workshops, and team-building programs upon request. Group sessions are a similar format to individual client sessions and are quite effective for:
- Divorce recovery for adults
- Kids and families with grief/loss/divorce
- Domestic abuse survivors group
- Anger management
- Eating disorder/addictive behaviors
- Couples improving their marriage
- Blended families
- Company productivity/teamwork/morale
Please contact Healing Strides for more information on group sessions or workshops.
